Note

"CORNELIA Chapman, the third daughter, had Semiramis added to her registered name (her daughter Effie Winckel told us this was the name of the ship that Robert Heinrich Ewald had deserted to stay in Australia). She always signed her name S.C. Chapman, but was known throughout the family as Annie.

Born near Kapunda in 1865, she Married Thomas Chapman soon after her mother's Marriage to Thomas's father and lived at Hamley Bridge for some years till 1892. It was in this year that the couple, with their five children, took up a tract of land alongside the Johns family at Bower, South Australia, Australia.

They lived and farmed there for eight years and then moved to a property 8 miles from Freeling at LinWood. This was an improvement to their Bower living, and six years later a 35 acre dairy at Gawler became their hom. In 1911 Annie with her cousin, Emily , went to the West Coast where she established a Maternity Home at Cummins. She ran this very successfully for six years before selling and returning to Gawler, where she lived till her death in 1945. Her husband predeceased her in 1914. She rest in the Willaston Cemetery near Gawler."
