"PAULINE AMANDA AURELIA Schwerdt the eldest child was known to her family as Amanda Aurelia although the names Pauline Amanda Karolin are recorded at her baptism in Light Pass Immanuel Church, with her date of birth as above. At the time of her parents resided in Krondorf, present day Kabminye near Tanunda. Several members have indicated Towitta as the place of birth, but due to the fact of her father having Been employed by the Angas family, and TarraWatta (similar sounding) the name of the property, May Lead to some confusion here. We Learn of her confirmation at Gnadenfrei (Marananga), and after many moves by the family as indicated by the birthplaces of the children, she became the wife of Karl S. Peters in the Congregation Church at Hamley Bridge in 1876. Pastor Niquet (Lutheran) the officiating minister. They lived at Nain on the Peters property, then acquired their own at Freeling, where after hardships and misfortunes, the introduction of superphosphate and establishing a Merino stud enabled them to comfortably raise a family. A daughter and a son predeacesed their father, who died at the early age of 57. Amanda Aurelia, left with her family (the Youngest not yet six) of nine lived to be 74. She died suddenly on hearing of the deaths of her daughter Edith and infant on 22-3-1930. She rests with her husband in the cemetery at Nain, near Greenock" "Family Tree of Johann Gottried Scholz and his wives Anna Rosina Walther and Johanne Christiane Mummert and their descendants 1805-1973", pge 148. |
