Note

How heartbreaking for Elizabeth to lose her daughter in 1833 to horrific burns, then on the voyage to Australia, to have her son William (aged 12) die. The fear she must have endured wondering if she would lose her whole family to sickness and desperately searching for ways to keep them safe. Her baby, Richard (aged 2yr), died one month after Elizabeth, so the father and two older girls - Sophia and Sarah - must have had to nurse him.

We have been fortunate in tracing descendents of Elizabeth Royce's ancestors, who now live in New Zealand.
