Note

May Mackenzie was the favourite grandaughter of George Wyndham of Dalwood.

She married Albert Wright in 1871 and they lived together at Mulallion Station, North Queensland as well as Kangaroo Hills. They were always very poor, but after Albert's death May carried on and turned Kangaroo Hills into a profitable sheep station.

George Wyndham arrived in the colony in 1827 and purchased Dalwood near Branxton in the Hunter Valley. He established a vineyard and drew his first vintage in 1835. Four years later his agent took up Buhhulla Station which in succeeding years was managed by one or more of his ten sons. In 1852 Frank Wyndham rode from Dalwood with vine cuttings in his saddle bags and Buhhulla vineyard was planted. In the later years, 12000 to 15000 gallons of ports, clarets and sherries were drawn every year from it's 25 acres of rich chordite soil. The Wyndhams in 1863 claimed to be the largest wine producers in the colony.
