Noted genealogist David Kelley suggests that Alfred the Great'sgrandmother Raedburh, "sister of the King of the Franks" and wife ofEgbert of Wessex (who spent some time in exile at the court ofCharlemagne), is perhaps the same as St. Ida, daughter of Count Theudericand wife of a "Saxon duke" Egbert.
