With the Republican Party split, Wilson won the 1912 election over both Theodore Roosevelt and William Taft, by a popular vote of 6,296,547 to 4,118,571 and 3,486,720, and an electoral vote of 435 to 88 and 8. He was re-elected in 1912 over Charle s E. Hughes, by votes of 9, 127,695 to 8,533,507 and 277 to 254. Thomas R. Marshall served as his vice-president during both terms. He also tried to keep the USA out of World War I. |
