Brother Thornton Luttrell was born in Lincoln County, Tennessee,March 3, 1822, was married to Sophia E.P. Heath on October 29th, 1846. Hedied at his home near Smithland, in Lincoln County, at 7 o'clock PM,August 12,1902.
Brother Luttrell became a Master Mason in 1870 and remained suchuntil his death. For many years and at the the time of his death BrotherLuttrell was a member of the C.P. church at Sulphur Spring, in thiscounty, and until his death his daily walk showed to the world that therewas a reality in the religion he professed. Brother Luttrell was governedby a conviction of right and duty. He carried his conscience into all ofhis affairs and never compromised his integrity. As the head of thefamily he was a bright example: as a member of the church he was abovereproach; as a citizen he had the confidence and esteem of all, and as aMason he lived up to his profession, having held the love and affectionof his brethern. He died leaving a happy rememberance and regretted byall.
Resolved, That the members of this Lodge wear the usual badge ofmourning for thirty days.
That a copy of this memorial be furnished the family of the deceasedbrother and that it be published in the county papers.

Thornton Luttrell served in the Confederate Army. PVT Co I, 44th Reg,Tennessee Infantry, was at Camp Trousdale. Wounded at Shiloh - sent to ahospital in Mississippi 21 Apr 1862. (Records are in the TN archives inNashville. #3008, 6 Sep 1900 and 15 Jul 1901 were applications fordisability - denied.
