There was a Corporal James M. Bartlett, D Company, 4th Calvary, listed in the book Tennesseans in the Civil War, Part I & II, Civil War Centenial Commission. 3rd Printing - UT Press. James Mansel Bartlett was murdered by Drury Richardson in 1854. Drury was his father-in-law (his wife Ritta's Father). Drury came from North Carolina and was a member of Concord Baptist Church in Lincoln County. He was dismissed from that church after the murder. In the Fayetteville Observer of Nov 30, 1854: "Drury Richardson was convicted of Manslaughter and sentenced to two years confinement in the penitentiary." |
