Obituary
Mrs. Annie Bertha Sanders died in Brownsville Sunday, December 15th, 1895, at 9:30 o'clock p.m., aged 32 years, 5 months and 19 days.
On Saturday, December 7, Mrs. Sanders was injured in a runaway, being thrown out of a spring wagon. Al that skillful physicians and loving friends could do was done, but she never fully recovered consciousness. On Tuesday and Wednesday of last week she seemed better, and hopes were entertained that she would recover, but Thursday she began to grow worse, and it was seen that she could never again greet her loved ones here on earth. She gradually failed until Sunday night, when she breathed her last. In her dying moments her loving husband, her only sister, Mrs. J.L. Melvin, of Stella, and her brother John E. Crother, of Nemaha, were with her. The funeral services were held at the Methodist Episcopal church at Nemaha. Rev. C. H. Gilmore preached the funeral sermon.
Annie Bertha Crother was born in Nemaha City June 26, 1863. October 8, 1882, she was married to George N. Sanders. In early life she joined the Episcopal church and in 1893 she united with the M. E. church of this place. She was a loving wife and a devoted mother. She leaves a husband, five young children, a mother Mrs. M. H. Crother, who is in California, one sister, Mrs. J. L. Melvin, of Stella and two Brothers, John E. Crother of this place and Oliver Crother of Summerland, California.
To our brother who is thus so suddenly and terribly bereft of a loving companion, we can only offer sympathy and bid him look to the loving Heavenly Father for strength to bear this great affliction, looking forward to a meeting where there will be no parting. The children will sadly miss a mother's care, and the mother, sister, and brothers will feel the loss of one of there number in their family reunions. But we can realize more forcibly than ever the uncertainty of life. The sincere and heartfelt sympathy of the entire community goes out to the bereaved ones in this hour of trial.
The kind people of Brownville will ever have a warm place in the hearts of the bereaved ones for the assistance and sympathy during the time of suffering and at the death of the dear one. Nothing was left undone that could be done to assist in any way either the suffering one or those who so anxiously watched by her bedside. The people of Nemaha were also very kind. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Boise, of Brownville at whose residence Mrs. Sanders remained from the time of her injury until her death, are especially remembered for their untiring care and kindness. May God bless them and theirs for their assistance in time of trouble.
