Note	Berry Dodson told Rev. Wm Cole that his mother was a Presbyterian and his father a Quaker. (It may be noted that the Quakers in Swavesey were greatly persecuted during the 17th Century). Berry himself was an active nimble man, which gives one the impression of a person of fine to average height and weight. He had rented Lordship Farm for many years, it was the largest farm in Swavesey. It cannot be verified whether he lived in the Manor House, but it is thought not. In 1774 Thomas Cockayne bought the Manor Estate and like most new Landlords raised the Farm rent by £100 per year. John, the son of Berry, was at that time the tenant of the Farm. He quit the tenancy and there was considerable ill feeling between Cockayne and Berry Dodson, almost a feud which lasted until Berry died in 1779 aged eighty one years.
