Deceased Name: Death: Pearl Merrell Cook Pearl Merrell Cook, age 82, of Vernal, died March 13, 1997 at the Columbia Ashley Valley Medical Center.
She was born May 1, 1913 in Lake Fork (Ioka), Utah to Fuller R. and Sarah Christeen Angus Merrell. She married Thayrel V. Cook, March 2, 1934 in Duchesne, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on March 15, 1934.

Pearl was a member of the LDS Church where she was Relief Society teacher, and in the Relief Society presidency. She worked in the school lunch program, as a store clerk and as a homemaker. She was an excellent seamstress and sewed most of her own and her children's clothes. She loved to crochet and knit and make agfhans for her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband Thayrel, of Vernal, and seven children: Marion Cook (Lamont) Shupe, Ogden; T. Robert (Pat) Cook, Salt Lake City; Merrell V. (Alona) Cook, Price; James E. (Bonnie) Cook, Myton; Diane Cook (Robert) Reay, Vernal; Henry F. (Roberta) Cook, Pittsburgh, Penn., Beth Cook (Don) Clark, Orem; 35 grandchildren; and forty great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers and sisters: Harold Merrell, Vernal; Ray Merrell, St. George, Grant Merrell, Hurricane. She was preceded in death by brothers and sisters: Ross, Karl, Leo, Myrtle, and Bessie.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 17, 1997 at 11 a.m .in the Vernal 2nd and 4th Ward Chapel, 235 East 600 So. Friends may call on Sunday evening from 7-9 p.m. at the Hullinger-Jolley Funerla Home, 224 East 500 So., and on Monday at the church one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Vernal Memorial Park under the direction of th Hullinger-Jolley Funeral Home.
