The funeral services held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Maeser ward chapel for Marion, the 9 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Owen Hacking, were largely attended. Bishop Lester Bingham presided.Death occurred at 6:30 a.m. Monday morning of a bronchial infection of short duration and was entirely unexpected. He developed a slight cold Friday and was taken to the hospital Sunday. Besides his parents, Owen and Evalyn Johnson Hacking, four brothers and sisters survive: Kenneth, 7; Merle, 5; Joyce, 2 and a baby sister three weeks old. He was born October 25, 1928 at Vernal.A double mixed quartet consisting of Frank Abplanalp, Roy Carroll, Allen Jones, Morris Roper, Crystal Roper, Stella Thacker, Laura Perry and Beulah McConkie sang: “Beautiful Zion Built Above,” and “Beautiful Home.” The school children of the 2 and 3 grades, directed by the teacher, Maysie Hall, and accompanied by Violet Caldwell, rendered “Let the Children Come.” “Song of Hope” was sung by Mrs. May Calder and Mrs. May Jorgensen, accompanied by Mrs. Mable Stagg. Mrs. O. Norman Olsen, accompanied by her daughter, Virginia played a violin solo.Speakers were Wallace Calder and Archie Johnson, with closing remarks by Bishop Bingham.Phillip Hall offered the invocation and Chris Bodily of Gusher pronounced the benediction.Pall bearers were Ward Ashby, Boyd Colton, Lloyd Calder, Dwaine Johnson, Dwaine Hacking and Derrell Bastian.Internment was made in the Maeser Cemetery under the direction of the Swain Funeral Home with A.
