Salt Lake Tribune, The (UT) - Friday, August 22, 1997
Deceased Name: Robert Carl Bennett
HOLDEN--Robert Carl Bennett, 74, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at home August 20, 1997 with family members at his side. He had fought a courageous battle with liver cancer for the past few years.

Born December 3, 1922 in Holden to Edward and Martha Estella Ashby Bennett, Jr. Graduated from Millard High School in Fillmore then entered the work-force for a short period before proudly serving his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Carl married his sweetheart Phyllis Cook of Delta, Utah on January 7, 1946 in Salt Lake City; marriage was later sealed for all time and eternity May 28, 1948 in the Manti LDS Temple. They have enjoyed a life together with love and devotion to each other as well as to their family.

Carl was a professional insulator by trade and worked in the insulation and construction business for 30 plus years before retirement in 1981. He was a farmer and rancher most of his adult life and spent many hours tending to the duties of cattle production from the land that he loved so much. He enjoyed going to the cabin of his dreams at the foot of the Holden Mountains.

He served faithfully in the bishopric of the Holden Ward, was a high priest, also serving in many other capacities in the church. He and his lovely companion, Phyllis, of 51 and a half years, had served an LDS mission in Pensecola, Florida, and Moultrie, Georgia. He loved his church callings and served faithfully and diligently on all those callings. Carl had the great ability of bringing out the best in everyone and always had a good story to tell to lighten up the moment. Known for his outstanding traits of dedication, honesty and fair dealing with his fellowman, he will be missed greatly by all with whom he came in contact with throughout his life.

Survived by his wife, Holden; daughters and sons, Sandy Wade, Fillmore; Janet (Richard) Robins, Cedar City; Rick (Madalyn), Holden; Steve (Denise), Spanish Fork; 18 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, whom he loved very much. The kids always wanted to go visit grandpa and show their love for him. Also survived by a brother, Fred, Holden; and sisters, Lula Peterson, Fillmore; and Helen Peterson, Sandy. Preceded in death by his parents, sister, Blanch and a brother, Howard.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 23, 1997, at 1 p.m. in the Holden LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may call Saturday, 10 -12:30 p.m. Burial, Holden Cemetery under the direction of the Olpin Mortuary, Fillmore.
