Note

It is said that 3 Dickie brothers married 3 Muir sisters in Ayrshire. The Dickie brothers are identified as John, Robert & David. (The Dickie Pioneers to New Zealand and their Descendants compiled and edited by Elizabeth B Smith 1963-4,
revised by Winifred J Smith)

If all 3 sons are really brothers, and knowing that David Muir is 1st father-in-law for David & Robert and that John's 1st father-in-law was probably Robert Boyd - then using Scottish naming practices - It is a very Strong likelihood that their
father (and hence the person in this record) is John Dickie.

The source given is "from Mr Fergusons notes and from the registers". There are three Dickie men (so named) marry 3 Muir sisters. I have not been able to find 3 sons of those names to one father in Ayrshire in the years 1720 to 1760 and hence I
