Note
|
Under the Scottish naming practices her name should be Mary or Agnes from the names of John Neilson's children. Her daughter Mary's death Cert says that her name is Mary - so Mary it is. I have searched for daughters Elizabeth, Margaret & Janet in the Statutory Death records, but not found them. Mary could be Mary Gillies. The only Mary in the surviving OPRs to marry a William Struthers in the period 1760 to 1783 was Mary Gillies; who married a William Struthers in Barony and in Glasgow in 1767. They baptised 6 children in Barony:
If Mary Gillies is the daughter of Alexander Gillies and Elizabeth Wilson (baptised Barony 21 Aug 1748) Then this would fit the naming pattern (2nd son, 2nd daughter), leaving 1st son and 1st daughter (William & Margaret) to be William's parent |
