The Necropolis, Genista Wall Niche Dux St Andrews College, Bairnsdale, 1906 (The school is now the premises of the Bairnsdale Historical Society.) The 1930's depression must have been pretty hard on them. The family always lived a very frugal existence, and were careful to save and spend wisely. He was active in Lawn Bowls, playing at East Camberwell and Ringwood Bowling clubs. He won many bowling trophies. 11 Jun 1908 Ernie started with the Bank of Australasia, Salary 100 pounds A reading of his personnel records suggests he was a bright, industrious and above average worker, capable of further promotion. Dorothy Osborne & her children stayed for nearly a year with the Nethercote's at Fish Creek. Muriel recalls that Ernie used to have a horese called Ginger.
