Death Certificate entry 1945/B016384 states Mary AmeliaFergusdaughter of Christopher Klein and Catherine Holdsworth One of his descendants has his marriage certificate to Amelia Magdalina Klein (or Mary Elena on the marriage cert.) and I have the details from the cert. It says they were married in the Toowoomba District Registrar Office on 4/4/1895, he was a bachelor and she was a spinster. He was born in Cooma and she was born in Toowoomba, he was a drover and she was a domestic servant. He was 32 and she was 22. His usual place of residence was Meandarra (west of Dalby in Qld) and hers was Toowoomba, the parents are the ones we already know. The occupations of the fathers of the bride and groom are farmers for both. The witnesses were William Brosnan and Catherina Kuhl. The Kleins arrived in Sydney on 12/1/1853 on the Johan Cesar. I am related to John ThomasFergus' wife - refer my email of 2/8/2005. Hi John, Dear Ian, KLEIN FAMILY NEWSLETTER Dear Well this is it. The long promised KLEIN FAMILY REUNION will take place this year on Saturday 23 September, in Toowoomba commencing at 10am. This is the first newsletter and I will be sending you a second one in June with more detailed information relating to the program, costs for catering at the hall and also orders for the Family book. You are a descendant of Martin and Maria Klein who arrived with two of their sons, Christian and George in 1853 from a village, Struth, in Germany and settled in Toowoomba. Their eldest son, Michael arrived with his new wife Anna Maria in 1857 and also went to Toowoomba. Christian married Catherina Holzwarth and George married Mary Cranley in Toowoomba. We are all descended from these, our German Pioneers. I have been in contact with many of the descendants over the years (first when I lived in Rockhampton and later when I moved to Sandstone Point, near Bribie Island) and I would like to thank you for giving up your time and assisting me with information and old photos. I have spanned over eight generations and there are over 4,100 descendants. Because of this large number, I would be grateful if you could inform your siblings and other relatives about the reunion, as it is impossible for me to contact all the living descendants. If you have email, I would also be grateful if you could contact me at my email address so that I can keep in touch with you more easily in future. I am also in the final stage of writing a family history book on the Kleins and this may be the only edition printed and will be launched at the Reunion. It is a result of my research of the Klein Family over 17 years. It tells of the lives of our ancestors from Martin Klein to his great grandchildren – their triumphs and hardships. It also will include photos. It is a must for your bookshelf as it is about your family history. More details about the cost of the book and how you go about ordering this book will be in the next newsletter. It would be a good idea for those who will be staying in Toowoomba overnight to book accommodation early, as this is the last weekend for the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers. Perhaps you could stay a few extra days and visit the prize winning gardens and tour the area where many of our ancestors lived and gave their names to streets, parks and suburbs. So come along and join your extended family at the Klein Family Reunion on Saturday 23 September 2006. Ian Kelly |
