Note

After graduation he trained at Lincoln's Inn (one of the four Inns of Court at Temple Church, London, the others being Gray's Inn, Inner Temple and Middle Temple) and was called to the Bar in 1749. He never practised as a lawyer and jo ined his father's business at the London end. At the Lisbon end was another Peter Burrell, probably the grandson of Alexander Burrell (b.1645).

He inherited the Kent and Sussex estates (except for one farm that went to his brother, William) on his father's death.

He used to reside at Langley Park during the summer season.
