Sir Ingram de Boynton, Lord of Acklam and Roxby, 1301/2, assessed for the subsidy in Roxby 1301/2 and succeeded by his son Walter in 1320, also held the third part of one knight's fee in Levingthorpe, Thornton, Marton, and Cottesby in 1302/3. He was knighted by 1276/7 and rendered the knight's service due from Sir Walter de Fauconberg in the Welsh ward, having been at that time in the muster at Worcester 1 July 1277. He owned a mill at Snainton in Brompton, North Riding, in 1272 and with Robert and William de Boyngton held lands at Boynton 23 February 1300, previously held by Nicholas "de Meynill". Sir Ingram figures with other Boyntons in the Inquisition of Nicholas de Meynell in 1299 and 1300. He married Margaret Grindal, daughter of Sir Walter Grindal, living 1291. The surname is also spelled Grindall and Grendall. Boynton Family Barontes: p.12 gen 12 married Isabel, second dau of Robert Nevile of Hornby Esq. Knt. of the shire, for county of York 15 ric 11 (1390) and high sheriff of the same by whom he had?? This would make Ingram pretty old having been knited in 1276/7 120 years earlier. |
