Joseph Bennett The celebration for little Joseph's second b irthday had scarcely passed when he was stricken with scarl et fever. Death came after 10 days of fever and shakes. H e was to be Joseph and Lydia's second boy and, judging by t he following son's birth (Alfred), Lydia was near full-ter m in her pregnancy when this occurred.She was a young mothe r of just 22 years in age.
